General Information

What is Source Signals?

Ivy Flip is a tool designed for flippers of used goods. We provide marketplace scraping technology that sends push notifications when items matching your search parameters are posted on Facebook, OfferUp, and Craigslist. Additionally, Ivy Flip lets you save and keep tabs on listings, manage inventory, track sales, and list items on multiple marketplaces with a single button click.

How does Source Signals work?

Ivy Flip lets you set up searches for specific items. When a matching item is posted on one of the supported marketplaces, we send you a push notification. Note that Ivy Flip is an alert tool, not a search tool, meaning we only notify you of items posted after your search is created.

Setting Up Searches

How do I create a search?

1. Go to the "feed" area of the app.

2. At the top, you will see a box with a gear icon and text that says "searches can be created."

3. Click on this box to go to the search creation menu.

4. Hit "create search" to set up your searches.

What search parameters can I customize?
  • Keywords: Enter the keywords for the items you're interested in.
  • Price Range: Set the minimum and maximum price.
  • Zipcode and Radius: Choose a zipcode and a radius of 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, or 100 miles. Search results are most accurate within a 40-mile radius.
  • If you run a search with a 40-mile radius and another with a 100-mile radius, the majority of results will overlap, with the 100-mile search returning slightly more listings. For reliable broader coverage beyond 40 miles, use overlapping 40-mile radius searches rather than relying solely on the 100-mile radius search.
  • Item Condition: Select from New, Like New, Good, Fair, and Salvage.
  • Mandatory Keywords: Specify keywords that must appear in the listing's title or description. For example, entering "west" and "elm" separately will only return listings if either "west" or "elm" appears. Entering "West Elm" as a single mandatory keyword will only return listings with "west elm" in the title or description.
  • Negative Keywords: Enter keywords that, if present in the listing's title or description, will exclude the listing. These can be applied individually to specific searches or globally across all searches.

Notification Speeds

What are the notification speed options?
  • Growth Plan: Instant notifications, usually within a minute.
  • Starter Pro Plan: Notifications every 5 minutes.
  • Starter Plan: Notifications every 10 minutes.
How does the notification timing work?

For the Starter Pro and Starter Plans, notifications are sent at regular intervals (e.g., every 5 minutes). This means a listing posted just after the last notification may have a slight delay before appearing in your feed.

Using the Feed

How does the feed work?

Listings detected by Ivy Flip populate in your feed and remain there for three days unless archived or saved. Archived listings are automatically deleted after two weeks, and saved listings remain in your saved feed until archived or moved to inventory.

How do I interact with listings in the feed?
  • Swiping through Images: Swipe on the images in a listing to see all associated images. You can toggle between swiping and tapping to cycle through images in Settings -> Feed Preferences -> "Tap to Cycle Through Images."
  • Messaging a Seller: Press the square with the diagonal up arrow in the bottom right corner of the listing.
  • Archiving Listings: Swipe left on the listing or tap the eye with the diagonal slash in the top right corner. View archived listings by clicking the eye with the slash at the top of the feed. Archived listings stay for two weeks before being removed.
  • Saving Listings: Swipe right on a listing or tap the ribbon in the upper right corner. Saved listings remain in your saved feed until archived or moved to inventory.
  • Expanded Listing View: Tap on the listing title or description to see more detailed information, including larger images, full title and description, marketplace details, location map, and seller information. You can also block sellers, save, archive, mark as purchased, and report scams from this view.

Scam Filtering and Seller Blocking

Does Ivy Flip filter out scams?

Yes, Ivy Flip offers AI Scam Filtering. We evaluate listing titles, descriptions, images, seller account age, reviews, and more to identify potential scams. You can toggle this feature on or off in Settings -> Feed Preferences -> AI Scam Filtering. Help us improve this feature by reporting scam listings by tapping the caution sign in the bottom left corner of the listing.

Can I block sellers?

Yes, you can block sellers to hide their listings. Expand the listing by tapping the text of the description, scroll to the bottom, and choose to block the seller. Manage blocked sellers in the search creation menu.

Saved Feed

What is the saved feed and how does it work?

When you save listings, they are removed from the main feed and stored in the 'saved' area of the app. Use the saved feed to keep track of listings you are interested in purchasing. This feature is important for inventory sourcing as sellers may become more willing to negotiate over time if they can't sell their items at their initial price. Additionally, the saved feed helps organize your messages to sellers, which can easily get buried in your inbox, especially if you are sending offers on multiple marketplaces. Keep your saved feed up to date by actively archiving or purchasing listings.

How do I manage listings in the saved feed?
  • Returning a Saved Listing to the Feed: If you accidentally save a listing, you can return it to the main feed by tapping the save ribbon.
  • Archiving Listings: If a listing is sold, removed, or if negotiations fail, hit the archive button (eye with a slash through it) to send it to the archive.
  • Marking Listings as Purchased: If you successfully purchase an item, move the listing to inventory by hitting the shopping cart with the down arrow in the upper left corner of the listing, or scroll to the bottom of the expanded listing view and tap "mark as purchased."

Sales Tracker

What is the Sales Tracker?

The Sales Tracker allows you to monitor your inventory and gain visibility into your financial performance on a month-to-month basis. By logging inventory and sales in the Sales Tracker, you can view a graph showing your costs, revenue, and profits on a monthly basis.

How do I add an item purchased through Ivy Flip to inventory?
  • Expand the listing.
  • Scroll to the bottom and tap the "Mark as Purchased" button.
  • Enter the purchase price and purchase date when prompted.

Alternatively, from the saved feed:

  • Tap the shopping cart with the down arrow in the top left corner of saved listings.
  • Select "Mark as Purchased."
How do I move a listing from inventory to sold?
  • Expand the listing.
  • Scroll to the bottom and tap the "Sold" button.
  • Enter the sale price, sale date, and the channel through which the item was sold when prompted.
How do I add an item purchased outside of Ivy Flip to the Sales Tracker?
  • Tap the grey "+ add item" button.
  • Choose to add the item to inventory or sold.
  • Fill in fields such as item title, item description, item image, purchase price, purchase date, purchase channel, sale price, sale date, and sale channel.

Using the Sales Tracker helps you maintain an organized inventory and track the profitability of your flipping business, providing valuable insights into your financial performance.

Ivy Flip's crosslisting tool allows you to simultaneously publish your listings on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Craigslist, and Shopify with a single button click!

How do I create and publish crosslisting drafts?
  • Create your listing drafts on our website or in our mobile app.
  • Use our Google Chrome extension on a computer browser to publish your listing drafts.
How do I set up crosslisting?

1. Log in to your account at www.ivyflip.com.

2. In the account dropdown in the upper right-hand corner, select "Crosslisting."

3. Click on "Crosslisting FAQ."

4. Download the Crosslisting Chrome extension from the Chrome Extensions marketplace.

5. Hit "Activate Crosslisting" in the Crosslisting FAQ.

How do I publish my first crosslisting draft?

1. Create Draft: Create your crosslisting draft in the Ivy Flip mobile app or in the crosslisting section of our web platform. Save the draft and select the marketplaces you'd like to publish to in the publishing overview.

2. Login to Platforms: Make sure you are logged into all platforms you wish to publish to from the same browser that you are logged into your Ivy Flip account. Remember, you can only publish crosslisting drafts from a computer browser with our Chrome extension installed! 3.** Select and Publish**: Select one or more listings that you would like to publish, then hit the publish button.

3. Avoid Interruption: Do not touch your screen while the Crosslisting extension is running. Doing so will interrupt the publishing process and cause errors. The extension will return you to ivyflip.com when it has completed running and give an overview of whether publishing succeeded or failed. If your screen is frozen for 90 seconds or more, there may be an error and you can exit out of crosslisting.

Using Ivy Flip's crosslisting tool streamlines the process of listing your items on multiple marketplaces, saving you time and effort.

Missing Listings

If you think you are missing listings, follow these steps: 2. Go to the listing you believe was missed. 3. Hit the share button and copy the link. 4. Send the link to your account manager or email it to help@ivyflip.com.

There could be various reasons for missing listings, such as the listing falling outside your search radius or a mismatch in search terms.
